Hello, JFK Community.
Thank you for your partnership as we navigated a most unusual year. We have had several stops and starts, teaching and learning remotely, simultaneous teaching and learning and fully returning to the classroom and reteaching students the routines of being in school with social distancing rules and mask wearing. The last few days we have been managing the sweltering heat and keeping everyone hydrated. With all the challenges that we encountered this year, we never lost sight of our identity as a school community who cares deeply about our students and families. This year, we continued our equity work of engaging in courageous discussion about race and focusing on ensuring that our students were connected with each other through our weekly town hall meetings of reviewing our REACH values, virtual field trips, yoga and storytelling. As we transition to Summer break, I want to bring a few things to your attention:
Last Day of School
The last day of the school year is Friday, June 18th, 2021; Thursday, June 17th and Friday June 18th are both early release days. Students will be dismissed at 12:40, students who take the bus to school will also be dismissed at that time.
Summer Learning Opportunities
This year, the JFK is not hosting its own summer learning but students at the JFK can participate in learning opportunities offered by the district. Here is the website https://www.bostonpublicschools.org/summerlearning
and you can also reach out to Ms. Tori (Social Worker) at the JFK about Summer Learning opportunities for students.
Chromebook Collection
All chromebooks will be collected from students at the JFK. Please let us know if your child is participating in summer learning so that we can make sure that they have access to a chromebook.
Summer Reading Books
One Book One Grade–Summer Reading Together 2021
Boston Public Schools is sponsoring One Book, One Grade, Summer Reading Together initiative to prevent reading loss, encourage pleasure reading and foster a culture of readers. Students will be coming home with the following books:

Un Cordial saludo familias de la Escuela JFK,
Primero que nada muchas gracias por su apoyo y su constancia durante este año que definitivamente ha sido uno inusual y de muchos cambios. Hemos tenido varios comienzos y recesos, hemos enseñado en línea (virtual), hemos enseñado y aprendido de manera presencial en el salón de clase a la vez de manera simultánea en persona y virtual. De igual manera se les enseñó a los estudiantes rutinas para aplicar en el salón de clase y se les enseñó a los estudiantes rutinas de distanciamiento social y de higiene para mantener a nuestra comunidad saludable. Estos últimos días hemos estado manejando la ola de calor y tratando de mantenerlos a todos hidratados. Con todas las situaciones difíciles que hemos enfrentado en este año, nunca hemos perdido nuestro rumbo o identidad como una comunidad escolar que se preocupa por sus estudiantes y sus familias. Este año escolar continuamos el trabajo que habíamos iniciado en el área de igualdad en embarcarnos en discusiones de valor para discutir temas de raza, y enfocarnos en que los estudiantes estuviesen conectados unos con los otros durante nuestras reuniones de comunidad una vez a la semana y practicar los valores REACH de la escuela, giras virtuales, clases de yoga , y narrativa de cuentos. Mientras nos transferimos al verano, quiero dejarle saber algunos asuntos importantes para los próximos días:
Ultimo Dia De Escuela
El último día de clases de este año escolar será el Viernes, 18 de Junio del 2021; Jueves, Junio 17 y el Viernes Junio 18 serán días de salida temprana. La hora de salida será a las 12:40 del mediodía. Los estudiantes que utilicen el autobús también serán enviados a esa misma hora al hogar.
Oportunidades De APrendizaje De Verano
Este año la escuela JFK no estará teniendo la escuela de verano en el mismo edificio. Por el contrario, los estudiantes de la JFK podrán acudir y participar del programa que será ofrecido por el distrito.Aquí está la página web que puede ser accesada para más información sobre estos programas.

Recogido de Chromebooks
Todos los chromebooks de los estudiantes de la JFK serán recogidos. Favor dejarnos saber si su hijo (a) estará participando del programa de aprendizaje de verano, de manera que el estudiante tenga acceso a un chromebook.
Libros De Lectura Verano
Un Libro Un Grado–Lectura de Verano Juntos 2021
Las Escuelas Públicas de Boston están auspiciando el programa ‘Un Libro, Un Grado’ , lectura de verano. Esto es una iniciativa para prevenir la pérdida de lectura en los estudiantes durante el tiempo en el que estarán de vacaciones de verano. Favor de motivar a los estudiantes a continuar el hábito de la lectura y cultivar una cultura de lectores. Los estudiantes llevarán a las casas los siguientes libros:
