More about JFK Elementary

General School Information

The JFK School is a K-5 elementary school serving Jamaica Plain and surrounding neighborhoods of Boston. It is an Extended Learning Time (ELT) school that provides a rigorous curriculum in all areas, but maintains a special focus on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Within this structure, the teaching of respect, effort, accountability, consideration and honesty are used to create a safe and positive learning environment. These efforts help our students become skillful thinkers, creative problem solvers, effective communicators and confident members of their community. Learn More

School Site Council

The JFK School Site Council (SSC) is the central governing/advisory body at the JFK. It is composed of the Principal, parents, teachers, school staff, and community members. Learn More

School Parent Council

The School Parent Council (SPC) brings all parents in the school community together to support the school and advocate for quality education. Every parent or guardian of a BPS student is automatically a member of the School Parent Council. The SPC typically sponsors events, solves problems, and raises funds for special school activities.

The School Parent Council is the independently established “voice” of ALL the parents in the school community. The School Parent Council advocates for the students and the school, meets regularly, elects representatives to sit on the School Site Council, promote an environment of understanding and common purpose among parents and school staff, with a focus on student learning and school improvement.

The John F. Kennedy School encourages all parents to participate in monthly meetings of the School Parent Council (SPC). Learn More
