Hello, JFK Families.
I hope all is well after this week’s Fall Nor’easter. I am very excited to announce that the JFK is included in the list of schools for 6th grade expansion. Parents who currently have 5th grade students at the JFK, I will be reaching out to you soon about enrollment for next school year.
School Spirit Week– Monday, November 1st–Friday November 5th, 2021
- Monday–Student and teacher style swap day
- Tuesday–Showcase your favorite character
- Wednesday–Dress like your favorite animal
- Thursday– Show off your superhero sway
- Friday- Show off your wackiest outfit
Literacy Night Wednesday, November 10th from 5:00:6:30
The JFK is hosting a literacy night on Wednesday November 10th (5:00-6:30pm) which will center around a fabulous storyteller, Kemp Harris, and connect oral language development and storytelling as literacy strength in all languages and cultures. The event will also include some other fun activities for our families to engage in. We are also raffling off two book baskets, $2 dollars per ticket.
BIMAS
This year, we will be screening students using the The Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System (BIMAS-2). This assessment measures social, emotional, and behavioral functioning in children. The BIMAS-2 is used for behavioral/ mental health screening in order to guide Tier 1-3 interventions and support for our students. BIMAS will be administered by classroom teachers and a permission slip will be sent home for consent. If you do not wish for your student to participate in testing, please inform your child’s teacher that you are opting out of testing. Again, please let us know if you are opting out of testing for your students.

Noche de Alfabetización Miércoles, 10 de noviembre de 5:00:6:30
El JFK está organizando una noche de alfabetización el miércoles 10 de noviembre (5:00-6:30 pm) que se centrará en un fabuloso narrador, Kemp Harris, y conectará el desarrollo del lenguaje oral y la narración de historias como fortaleza de alfabetización en todos los idiomas y culturas. El evento también incluirá algunas otras actividades divertidas para que nuestras familias participen. También estamos sorteando dos canastas de libros, $ 2 dólares por boleto.
BIMAS
Este año, evaluaremos a los estudiantes utilizando el Sistema de Evaluación de Monitoreo de Intervención conductual (BIMAS-2).
